Bulldog boys fall at North

OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start for themselves or slow down a strong finish by Des Moines North. The Bulldogs gave up the first 13 points of a CIML Metro Conference make-up game Saturday to the Polar Bears, who finished the game with 40 second-half points to pull away for a 70-38 victory.

Austin Walker scored 15 points to lead Ottumwa. Carter Burns added 10, including eight in the first half to get the Bulldogs as close as 19-11 late in the first quarter. North maintained a 30-19 halftime lead and used a 15-1 run to open the second half to open a 25-point lead.

Ottumwa (1-11, 1-6) heads to Des Moines Hoover on Tuesday for a third straight CIML Metro matchup.
