BURLINGTON —
Ottumwa’s swimmers were once again competitive in relay events Saturday at the Burlington Girls Grayhound Invitational.
The Bulldogs finished 11th out of 12 teams at the invite with 79.5 points.
“It was a really competitive day,” coach Stephanie Mishler said. “We had several opportunities to race other individuals.”
The relay team of freshmen twin sisters Claire and Caroline Carlson, sophomore Marissa Rupalo and junior Danielle Noe finished ninth out of 12 teams with a time of 2:09.90 in the 200 medley relay and they claimed ninth in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:55.16.
“Our relays, again, came up big for us and several swimmers saw their times drop,” the coach said.
Junior Maranda Rupalo, Marissa’s older sister; finished 10th in the 50 freestyle with 1:11.62 and Claire Carlson came in 12th in the 100 butterfly with 1:22.77. In addition, Caroline Carlson finished 13th in the 100 breastroke with 1:20.64.
The Bulldogs will compete in a dual at Indianola Tuesday at Simpson College.
