Davis County advanced to the regional finals for the second straight year on Thursday night, winning a showdown with a South Central Conference rival in an SCC gym. The Mustangs scored a 30-28, 25-20, 25-8 sweep over Albia in the Class 3A, Region 6 volleyball semifinals.
Rylee Eakins led the way offensively for the Mustangs with 14 kills and two blocks and Shelby Graves distributed a team-high 30 assists and 10 digs. Graves also went 21-22 on serves and led the Mustangs with 6 aces. Lauren Lynch went 13-13 serves and Megan Joos added 10 kills and nine digs for head coach Marty Barnett’s squad.
Albia ends its season at 15-13. Davis County (20-14) plays top ranked and undefeated Mediapolis (3A) Tuesday in Ottumwa.
