OTTUMWA —
The Indian Hills boys soccer team earned itself a first-round home game at the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Regional Tournament by defeating Marshalltown 2-1 Saturday.
The Warriors fell behind 1-0 after the Tigers’ Salvador Galvan scored a goal in the 31 minutes left in the first half. IHCC still trailed 1-0 at halftime.
Bruno Moraes tied the match at one in the second half after receiving a pass from Rogerio Manes. Warrior Edison Quinarelli, Jr. have his team the lead with a goal with 17 minutes left in the match.
“Having home field in the first round is a huge advantage,” coach Doug Seigle said.
“Besides Iowa Western, who won our conference, we have the most momentum going into the tournament.”
The IHCC men (6-9-4) will play host to Dakota County Wednesday in its first-ever ICCAC Regional tournament game on its new soccer field on campus at 3 p.m.
The Indian Hills women’s team’s soccer game against Marshalltown Saturday was forfeited by the Tigers Saturday because of lack of players. The Warrior women (2-16-2) will play their first round regional contest today at Iowa Lakes in Spencer at 2 p.m.
