The Davis County volleyball team opened up Class 3A, Region 8 play with a pulse-racing 3-2 victory at Centerville in action Monday.
Mustangs Kate Birchmier and Rylee Eakins spearheaded Davis County’s offensive attack with 19 kills each against the Big Reds. Megan Joos led the Mustangs with 48 assists and Shelby Graves went 25-25 on serves. Eakins paced Davis County with four aces and four blocks.
With the victory, the Mustangs (19-14) move on to take on South Central Conference rival Albia in the semifinals on Thursday. That contest is currently scheduled to be played in Centerville.
