PEKIN — Mackenzie Laux earned her 17th victory of the season for the Pekin Panther softball squad on Senior night Wednesday.
Laux, just a sophomore, gave up just one hit and fanned 15 New London batters to help lift the Panthers to a 9-0 victory.
Panther seniors include Jessica Deutsch, Shelby Blakely, Mycaela Crouse, Ashley Morales and Jaime Sterling. The five seniors combined for three RBI Wednesday.
Laux was locked on in the batter’s box as well as she drilled two doubles and recorded two RBI. Kaitlin Spilman also ripped New London for two RBI.
The Panthers (23-4, 15-0) play Highland today in a varsity doubleheader. If the Panthers sweep Highland they will clinch the Southeast Iowa Superconference North title according to Panther coach Bryan Marlay.
