Ottumwa co-ed swimmers compete at Iowa City
IOWA CITY — The Ottumwa co-ed swim team traveled to the very tough Iowa City Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs finished in eighth place with 57 team points.
Cedar Falls beat out Ankeny by eight points to win the invite with a total of 273 points.
Nine individuals were able to improve their times in a variety of different events for OHS.
The highest finish for the Bulldogs came from the 200 free relay team. The Ottumwa team is made up of Max Zimmerman, Nick Shepperd, Todd Anderson and Tyler Bennett. The foursome recorded a seventh-place finish.
The highest individual OHS swimmer was Tim Trautmann in the 100 backstroke. Trautmann’s time of 1:03.35 was good enough for a 13th-place finish.
“We’re showing steady improvement,” said Ottumwa coach Bruce Trapp. “Improving on our times is what we strive for.”
The swim team will take some time off from competing during the holidays. They will be back in action Jan. 7 at Des Moines Lincoln.
