DES MOINES —
The Ottumwa Bulldogs only took a partial team to Des Moines North Tuesday for boys CIML Metro tennis action, and that was all the Bulldogs needed.
Ottumwa cruised to an 8-3 win over a North team that only had six varsity players available. Ottumwa swept the singles matches and took two forfeits in doubles play. The Bulldogs moved six players up to compete in three varsity doubles matches, each won by North’s varsity.
Ottumwa’s Steve Ray took a 6-4, 6-0 victory over North’s Josh Swagler at the No. 1 slot. Seth White needed three sets to dispose of North’s Christian Rundle at No.3, but White prevailed, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6.
Jared Buhlman, Nick Sedore, Jacob Gardner and Sam Kramer also took singles wins for the Bulldogs.
Ottumwa will get back into action on Thursday, when the Bulldogs host Southeast Polk.
