Captain Mathews leads Davis County’s first-team all-state trio

BLOOMFIELD — Collin Schulz and a brimful of Davis County baseball players were among the area players selected for Iowa 2012 baseball all-state teams.

The players are selected by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Schulz, the Bulldogs  most reliable hitter, was named to third team all-state. He sported a .452 batting average, 60 percentage points ahead of any of his teammates.

Besides that, Schulz led the Bulldogs in several other statistical categories includes a .661 slugging percentage, .514 on-base percentage, 12 doubles and 16 stolen bases.
