Tourney Slate: Things get started today at 4:30 p.m., when Independence (Kan.) takes to the floor against William Penn JV. The 12th-ranked Warriors will follow with a game against Malcolm X. On Saturday, Malcolm X takes on William Penn at 4:30 and IHCC will tip-off against Independence at 7 p.m.

Records: No. 12 Indian Hills is 9-1 overall. Malcolm X is 1-5.
Rough Region: IHCC is finding some company among rivals in the rankings. Iowa Western (11-0) jumped from ninth to seventh in the rankings, while Marshalltown (11-0) debuted in the Top 25 at 21st. Both teams will be fighting with the Warriors for the Region XI crown later this season.
The Chicago Way: From Freeport, in the Chicago area, Malcolm X has struggled against some tough competition this season, but the Hawks are usually known for their fast-moving and physical style of play. The finished 20-11 last season.
Coach Barret Peery says: “We’ve got two very quick and athletic teams coming into our place this weekend. This is what I wanted to sign us up for this year. We needed to be tested like this early on.”
