OTTUMWA —
Ottumwa senior Shawn Foster was released from a hospital in Des Moines Tuesday, Bulldog wrestling coach Kevin Cochran said.
Foster was taken to the Davis County hospital in Bloomfield on a stretcher Monday during Ottumwa’s double dual against Davis County and Cardinal at Davis County High School. The senior wrestler was unable to get back to his feet after the conclusion of a round against Mustang Kale Baird at 145 pounds. He eventually was flown to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Cochran said Foster will be sidelined for at least a week and then the date of his return will depend on when he believes Foster is physically healthy enough to compete again. The coach said hearing that Foster was going to be allowed to go home was the best news he had received all day.
