KEOKUK —
The Ottumwa football team got their first win under head coach Zach Pfantz in impressive fashion, rallying from an early 14-3 deficit with 31 unanswered points to score a 34-21 win over Keokuk on Friday night.
A touchdown and two-point conversion helped Keokuk extend their lead to 11 late in the first half. Ottumwa chipped away at the lead and went ahead with a late touchdown in the first half, taking an 18-14 edge into the break.
Seth Griffiths started a second half full of big plays for Ottumwa, scoring on a 77-yard touchdown run with under three minutes left in the third. A quick turnover led to a field goal for the Bulldogs, who took a 28-14 lead into the fourth quarter before a 44-yard interception return by Collin Schulz helped clinch Ottumwa’s first win of the season.
The Bulldogs (1-1) return to Schafer Stadium to host Mount Pleasant next Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
