ALBIA — Chariton played just well enough to pull out a 59-57 victory over Albia on the road.
The Chargers pulled out the victory after getting a layup with two seconds left in the contest. T.J. Hawkenson shepharded Chariton’s offensive attack with a game-high 21 points and Bryce Cunningham and Derek Lang chipped in 12 points each.
The Blue Demons took the loss despite getting 20 points from Matt Baker and 17 points and eight rebounds from Tanner Kellog.
Albia (2-2, 0-1) will host Pella Christian today.

Bujnoch propels Savages to victory

NEW SHARON — Sigourney’s Vaclav Bujnoch scored 21 points to help the Savage boys basketball team thrash North Mahaska 50-30 Friday in a South Iowa Cedar Conference game.
Brandon Stuhr added 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Sigourney and Kyle Ferree chipped in eight points, including two 3-pointers.
The Savages (3-1, 3-1) play host to BGM Monday in SICL action.
