OTTUMWA —
Time and Place: 7 p.m. tonight at the Hellyer Student Life Center in Ottumwa.
Broadcast Info: The game will be carried live on KMGO radio (98.7 FM) and on the Internet at www.kmgo.com.
Records: Sixth-ranked (DI) Indian Hills is 23-2 overall, 5-0 in Region XI play. Three Rivers is 13-11 and 0-6 in Region XVI.
Classic comeback: IHCC’s current nine-game winning streak, which is a season best for the Warriors, might have been stopped early if not for a late rally in the Warriors last meeting with Three Rivers. After winning their last two games of their three-game Arizona trip, IHCC lost a 14-point lead at Three Rivers and trailed 73-70 with under three minutes remaining before a 10-1 run highlighted by a go-ahead lay-up and last-minute three-point play by Dustin Hogue lifted the Warriors to an 81-77 win over the Raiders on Jan. 9.
Sudden slump: That late-game loss to IHCC followed a 79-69 loss to open Region XVI play for Three Rivers. The Raiders haven’t been able to recover as legendary long-time head coach Gene Bess has seen his team drop all six of their regional games thus far with only a 90-61 win over St. Louis-Forest Park keep Three Rivers from entering the Hellyer Center on a seven-game losing streak.
Coach Peery says: “Three Rivers has a great post players, two or three good guards and we know they can give us a good battle. We had a tough game down there. We know we’ll have to be ready to battle them.”
