FORT DODGE —
One week after playing the toughest NJCAA Division I team in the state, the Indian Hills volleyball team found things no easier against one of the top ten in DII.
One week after suffering a tough sweep at home against fourth-ranked (DI) Iowa Western, IHCC found it just as hard to take a win off No. 10 (DII) Iowa Central Tuesday night in Fort Dodge. The Warriors lost their second straight match in three games, falling 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 to the Tritons.
“We’re still suffering with injuries and sickness right now,” Indian Hills head volleyball coach Lyndsey Lyon said. “We lacked aggressiveness. We played well defensively, but we couldn’t put things together offensively.”
Carla Novaes had IHCC’s only ace serve of the night and led the Warriors with 10 kills on 21-25 hitting. Emily Eswonia added a 22-27 hitting effort with five kills while Peyton Crosser had three blocks defensively to lead Indian Hills.
Ailime deFreitas led the Warriors with a perfect 11-11 serving effort and 34 of IHCC’s 35 assists. Jessi Black also collected 25 digs to lead Indian Hills, who will take a 21-7 record into this weekend’s Jefferson College Tournament starting Friday in Missouri.
