OTTUMWA —
Jared Pace rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns and Nate Van Veldhuizen added a couple of scores as the Oskaloosa football team picked up its first win of the season, 40-20, over Chariton in Class 3A action Friday night.
Tyce Sarver also scored on a 12-yard run and grabbed a pass from Jesse Van Dalen for another touchdown for Osky, which improves to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.
Chariton scored on touchdown runs by Matt Schultz, Steven McCurdy and T.J. Hawkenson. The Chargers are also 1-3 and 1-1.
Osky will travel to Norwalk next week.

PLEASANTVILLE — Quentin Garrels lifted sixth-ranked (A) Pekin to another quick start on Friday night, racking up 242 rushing yards and six touchdowns as the Panthers scored 55 first-half points on the way to a 61-21 win at Pleasantville.
Petie Clubb added 107 yards on the ground and scored one of the Panthers’ nine touchdowns. Pekin rushed for 455 yards in the win over the Trojans.
No. 6 Pekin (4-0, 2-0) hosts North Mahaska next Friday.

IOWA CITY — The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont football team had a tough time of it on Friday as they traveled to take on top-ranked Iowa City Regina in Class 1A, District 6 action.
Regina — which has won the last two Class 2A state titles — scored early and often, winning its 32nd straight game, 52-14.
Drake Menius provided a couple highlights for the Rockets, scoring touchdowns on a 39-yard punt return and a 63-yard run.
E-B-F (2-2, 1-1) will get back into action next Friday, when the Rockets host Wilton. Regina (4-0, 2-0) will be on the road to take on Cardinal at Eldon.
