The Davis County volleyball team evened its overall record at 6-6 with a 25-22, 16-25, 25-18, 25-23 South Central Conference win over Centerville on Tuesday night.
Rylee Eakins had another solid night at the net, leading the Mustangs with 19 kills on 35-41 hitting while scoring five blocks on defense. Lauren Lynch added a team-high three aces on 13-13 serving while Janel Fenton added an 18-18 service effort.
“That was a big conference win for us,” Davis County head volleyball coach Marty Barnett said. “Rylee, Kate (Birchmier) and Megan (Joos) all had big nights at the net with 40 kills. Our offense had some very good kills and lots of players hit the ball well.”
Both Davis County (6-6, 2-0) and Centerville (5-8, 0-2) head to Evans Middle School Gym Saturday to compete in Ottumwa volleyball tournament.

Comets fall to 11th-ranked New London

NEW LONDON — The Cardinal volleyball team fell to 11th-ranked New London on the road in three games (25-18, 25-5, 25-8) in Southeast Iowa SuperConference action Tuesday.
The Comets’ Delaney Ridgeway made 9-9 serves and Schylar Conger led Cardinal with three kills. Danae Moses led the Comets in assists with six and Ridgeway had 10 digs.
Cardinal (2-2) plays Central Lee Thursday in Eldon.
