MOUNT PLEASANT —
A month after an Ottumwa teen was charged with harboring a runaway child, he’s been hit with charges again, this time for “interference with the judicial process.”
Keith Lane Davis-Sauer, 19, of rural Ottumwa, was originally charged with harboring a runaway child, an aggravated misdemeanor, on Jan. 4 after law enforcement found him and a runaway, a 13-year-old Salem girl, in Kansas City, Mo.
Five days later, Davis-Sauer was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a 12- to 13-year-old victim, a Class C felony. The assaults allegedly occurred on Nov. 24 and Dec. 24.
And a week ago, he was charged with suborning perjury (persuading someone to lie under oath), a Class D felony, and tampering with witnesses or jurors, an aggravated misdemeanor. Both charges fall under Iowa Code Section 720: Interference with Judicial Process.
All charges against Davis-Sauer are in Henry County, where he is currently being held in jail.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 5.
Davis-Sauer was also charged in Dickinson County in northwest Iowa last fall with harassment by communication, indecent exposure and harboring a runaway. These are unrelated to the charges against him in Henry County.
