For worldwide use of websites, the site should translate many languages.
Mark Eckman, director of the Ottumwa Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, is spreading the word about matching funds needed for the Central Iowa Tourism Region grants that support the local bureau’s website — http://www.exploreottumwa.com, according to Wapello County Supervisor Greg Kenning.
Eckman said Friday that a grant would help them update computer equipment and translate everything.
Eckman will present his information when the supervisors meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the boardroom/courtroom of the Wapello County Courthouse.
“We’ll be asking the board members on Tuesday,” Eckman said. “We have $425 from CITR, but we have to have dollar to dollar to match the grant.”
The county’s agenda also includes signing more paperwork for the construction of the communications tower.
“That’s good news,” Kenning said. “No one has said they won’t sign so I assume we’re still on track and the tower should be up by the end of January.”
He also noted Sabre Industries will build the tower now that the bid has accepted Raycom as an intermediary consultant and board members have looked over the contract.
