OTTUMWA —
“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
— Mark Twain
A new year brings new energy, an optimism and hope for something better.
In that spirit, the Courier hopes to share stories of those who make a difference in the lives of our neighbors and friends.
Every so often in 2013, we want to publish those articles — stories that we’ve tentatively titled “Acts of Kindness.”
We hope to shine a light on the good that people are capable of. We want to emphasize that all good deeds, small and large, are important, and that southern Iowa exemplifies that spirit.
Know of someone we should do a story about?
Let us know by emailing or mailing us nominations of those who are selfless and caring.
Mail your submissions to:

Meanwhile, the Courier’s annual Progress edition draws near, and in part, we want to continue those stories that features “Southern Iowans Who Make a Difference.”
Let’s showcase those who stand out in their work, their family life, hobbies and volunteer efforts.
The special section will be published toward the end of March, but we need your suggestions now.
