CANTRIL —
Dorothy M. Scott, 90, formerly of Cantril, died 9:45 p.m. March 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua, where she and her husband have resided since August 2009.
She was born Sept. 27, 1922, near Milton to Albert and Florence Wright Skelton. She married Lowell I. Scott on June 9, 1940. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in June.
Dorothy and Lowell farmed many years in the Cantril area until they retired and moved to town. She worked 22 years as a bank teller for State Savings Bank in Cantril and in later years worked as a cook for Meals on Wheels in Milton and Keosauqua until health problems forced her to retire. Dorothy was noted for her delicious pies and cakes.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell; sister and brother-in-law, Ella Jean (Don) Scott of Branson, Mo.; special friends, Jack (Linda) Sharp of Cantril; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ed Skelton; a sister, Hattie Newland; a niece; and a nephew.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua; Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials to Sunnyside Cemetery or Cantril Fire Dept. may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 27232 Gold Ave., Cantril, Iowa 52542.
