OTTUMWA —
Faye Lucille Melton, 91, of 118 S. Union, died at 10:25 p.m. February 26, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born September 25, 1921 in Wapello County, IA to Clyde S. and Wanda E. Davis Bailey. She married Gerald Emery Melton on August 23, 1942. He preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School.
Faye was a member of Wapello County Genealogy Society and was active in the Tenant Club at Hillside Apartments where she had served as secretary.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Melton of Indiana; a granddaughter, Amy Melton of Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Darland of Rock Island, IL and Zelma Stufflebeam of Geneseo, IL; a brother, Rex Bailey of Hanford, CA; several nieces and nephews, including Pauline Carruthers of Ottumwa who helped care for Faye.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald E. Melton in 2010; a granddaughter, Makenzie Melton in 2001; three brothers, Francis V., Robert M. and infant Hubert Bailey; and two sisters, Fern Kirfman and infant Alice Bailey.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Agency Cemetery.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Friday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Tenant Club at Hillside Apartments.
