FLORIS —
Beatrice J. Yates, 76, of Floris, died Feb. 25, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Wapello County to Oscar and Vetra Padget Covert. She married Dwayne Yates in 1972 in Lancaster, Mo.
Beatrice owned the Country Cafe in Bloomfield and was a cook at the Davis County Hospital.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Deb (Denny) Cole of Drakesville and Diana (Erik) Christian of Ottumwa; two sons, Tim (Rhonda) Davis of Slate and Allen (Cheryl) Davis of Ottumwa; a stepson, Tim Yates of Adel; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd (Pat) Covert of Blakesburg, Bob (Barb) Covert of Batavia and Bill (Betty) Covert of Floris; and three sisters, Betty Durham, Sherri (John) Guthrie and Vicki (Ron) Rath all of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jerry Covert.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at the Floris Cemetery in Floris.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Floris Fire Department.
