OTTUMWA —
William O. Wylie, 80, of 401 N. Clay St. died at 1:20 p.m. December 8, 2012 at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.
He was born January 18, 1932 in Robbins, IL to Walter and Frankie May Wylie Sr.
He married Janey Lee Jackson in 1966. She preceded him in death in 1992.
A graduate of Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Having worked in a canning factory in Chicago, he had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past five years.
He enjoyed going to the farm, pitching horseshoes and watching football games.
Surviving are 9 children, Kim Wylie of Ottumwa, Korine Wylie of Harvey, IL, William “Teddy” Jr. and Kay Wylie both of Alaska, Phillip and Laverne Wylie both of Minnesota, David and Angie Wylie both of Illinois and Andre Wylie of Wisconsin; 4 step-children, Jesse Jackson, Michael, Tyrone, and Monica Hampton all of Illinois; 3 adopted children, Paula Johnson and Norman Wylie both of Illinois and Naomi Wylie of Indiana; 48 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Wilson of Harvey, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Wylie Jr.; two sisters, Marie and Rosemary Wylie.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Great Hope Baptist Church in Robbins, IL.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in Homewood, IL.
Memorials may be made to Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.
