OTTUMWA —
Vincent Andrew Dougherty, 96, of 1335 N. Elm, died at 9:23 p.m. November 27, 2012 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born December 25, 1915 in Ottumwa to Herbert C. and Anna Andrew Dougherty Sr. He married Geraldine Burgher on May 18, 1957.
A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked at John Morrell & Co., retiring as an electrician. He was a well known saxophone player in Ottumwa.
Vincent was a member of Davis St. Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Geraldine; and a daughter, Julie (Gary) Cooper of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Katie (Bret) Van de Lune of Prairie City, Mitch (Jessica) Cooper of China, Laura (Nate) Cook of Des Moines; six great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carson and Culter Van de Lune of Prairie City, Henry, Addie and Truman Cooper of China.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herbert Dougherty.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army Senior Meal Site Program or The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
