ALBIA —
Lois Leota Sinclair, 95, of Albia, died Jan. 31, 2013, at Monroe Care Center in Albia.
Lois was born June 7, 1917, to Henry and Pearl (Day) Phillps in Buxton. She married Malcolm “Mike” J. Sinclair on May 17, 1941, in Missouri. He preceded her in death in August 1980.
Lois grew up and attended school in Lovilia. She worked at Blackstone Café in Albia when she was younger and worked in the high school cafeteria as a cook before working at Hy-Vee in the meat department. After retiring, she remained active with Hy-Vee, where she handed out food samples in the store.
Lois was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Women, was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a member of the Albia Women’s Club and volunteered with the Monroe County Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to crochet and was also a member of the Crazy Quilters. Lois enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and camping, and she loved to travel.
Lois is survived by a son, Mickey (Linda) Sinclair of Albia; three grandchildren, Lynn Heriford, Cynthia Kirk and Michael Sinclair; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; a daughter, Gwendolyn Marie Sinclair; and a brother, Hilbert Phipps.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia; with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Lois’s family present from 4-6 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Monroe Care Center.
