OTTUMWA —
Audra Rose Peters Jakober Lehmann, 85, of Dubuque, died Jan. 18, 2013, of complications following cancer-related surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Audra was born to John and Esther Peters on June 15, 1927. Audra had three children, Peter, Jeffrey, and Pamela with her first husband, Roland Jakober, and gained six more adult children when she married Rev. Robert Lehmann in 1975.
She graduated from Tama High School in 1945 and Wartburg College in 1962. For 13 years, she served as an elementary teacher in the Waverly-Shell Rock schools.
Audra was very active in church congregations throughout her life, including St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ottumwa and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque. She was a tireless volunteer, including women’s area church boards, Stephen Ministry, Hospice of Ottumwa and Dubuque, Finley Hospital and Lutheran World Relief quilting. She loved to sing and was an alumnus of the Wartburg College Choir.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Robert Lehmann of Dubuque; son, Jeffrey (Terry) Jakober of Tulsa, Okla; grandsons, Andrew Jakober of Tulsa, Okla., and Thomas Jakober of Orange, Texas; stepchildren, Kent (Joellen) Yeager of Jesup, Lynda Holtz and Barbara Nash, both of Jefferson, Mark (Karen) Lehmann of Waverly, Brian (Mary Maher) Lehmann of Houston, Minn., and Grant (Laurie) Lehmann of Bangor, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Peters of Janesville, Wis.; brother, David (Judy) Peters of Ocala, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband; daughter, Pamela; son, Peter; and sister, Mae Pearson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1755 Delhi St. in Dubuque. Interment will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
Friends may call the church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday and preceding the service from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque.
