OTTUMWA — James David Penn Jr., 78, of Ozark, Mo., died Sept. 3, 2012.

He was born March 29, 1934, in West Plains, Mo., to James David Sr. and Ruby Lee Penn. He was baptized in the First Christian Church in West Plains, Mo. On March 4, 1956, Jim was married to Linda Reary, from which two children were born, James David III and Tamara Lynn.

Jim attended West Plains Schools and continued his schooling at Southwest Missouri State College (MSU), receiving a bachelor of science in education degree with a major in history. After teaching one year in Burnham, Mo., he became an administrator for the Social Security Administration serving areas in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa.

Jim was an active member of the Jaycees in Sedalia, Mo., and the WaKeMa Motorcycle Club in Ottumwa, serving both as president. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and an ordained deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He was currently a member of the Brentwood Christian Church in Springfield, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, James (Linda) of Ottumwa; daughter, Tami of Ozark, Mo.; granddaughter, Dr. Jessica Bolton of New York City, N.Y.; and grandson, Nicholas Rossi of Ozark, Mo.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harry Lee.

Services will be private.
