HEDRICK —
Cheryl A. Longaker, 69, formerly of Hedrick, died at 2:25 p.m. May 21, 2012 at Ridgewood Nursing & Rehab Center.
She was born June 15, 1942 in Hedrick to Weldon and Florence Leatherby Longaker.
A 1961 graduate of Hedrick High School, she graduated from the Ottumwa Beauty Academy. Cheryl was a Head Start pre-school teacher in Sigourney, had been a cook at Hedrick schools and worked in housekeeping at Keokuk County Health Center.
She was a member of East End Presbyterian Church in Ottumwa and Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post #83 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a huge Elvis fan, enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Paul (Becky) Longaker of Agency; three grandchildren, Afton Longaker of Osceola, Kourtney Longaker and Logan Rachford both of Agency; a brother, Robert Longaker of Napa, CA; two nieces, Tonya (Edwin) Gonzalez of Napa, CA and Marcena (Christopher) Walther of Elk Grove, CA; great-nieces, Briella Gonzalez and Graycen Loveless both of Napa, CA, Calleigh and Savannah Walther both of Elk Grove, CA; a close friend, Windy Clark of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Longaker; and sister-in-law, Linda Longaker.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
