LANCASTER, MO. —
Donald Gibson, 86, of Lancaster, Mo., passed away Oct. 4, 2012, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo.
The son of Nathan Rosecrantz and Verna Belle Forsythe Gibson Jr., he was born on May 31, 1926, in rural Lancaster, Mo. On Sept. 25, 1944, in Olathe, Kan,, he was united in marriage to Mildred Gertrude York, and to this union, two sons were born, Mike and David.
Donald was a member of the Orleans Church of Christ of Moulton and was a very active member as long as his health permitted. Donald was a farmer, bulldozer operator and construction worker most of his life. Above all, he was a loving and supportive husband for nearly 68 years as well as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather, as he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his son, David (Alaina) Gibson of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Judy Gibson of St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete (Kathy) Gibson of Lancaster, Mo.; one sister, Maxine Muehe of Galesburg, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, “Gertie,” on May 29, 2012; one son, Mike Gibson; one brother, Ralph Dean Gibson; and one sister, Ruth Stevens.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Mo.; with Jerry Weller, pastor of the Orleans Church of Christ of Moulton, officiating. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Norman Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established for local youth ministry in care of David Gibson.
