OTTUMWA —
Kyle P. Smith, 58, of 3404 SW Second St. in Des Moines and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1954 in Ottumwa to Hubert L. and Barbara Hedges Smith.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1973, and from the University of Iowa, he has lived in Des Moines for more than 20 years.
He worked as a customer service representative for Marsh McClennan in Des Moines.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his mother, Barbara Smith, of Ottumwa; two brothers, Kim and Kriss Smith, both of Ottumwa; a niece, Lyndsey Smith; three nephews, Tyler, Dylan and Tanner Smith; a great-niece, Adalyn Smith; a great-nephew, Sawyer Pierce; and a special friend, Gary Kane of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Smith, and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home; with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with family present one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East End Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Iowa Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501.
