Keith Byerly, 54, Ainsworth

AINSWORTH — Keith Albert Byerly, 54, of Ainsworth, died Oct. 30, 2012, in rural Ainsworth following a sudden illness.

Keith was born May 18, 1958, in Washington, the son of Dale Albert and Ramona Merle (Mehaffy) Byerly. Keith was united in marriage to Cheryl Elliott on Aug. 29, 1992, in Washington.

He graduated from Highland High School in 1977. Keith was a life resident of the Ainsworth Community. He owned and operated Keith’s Parts and Service and also farmed. He previously worked for Winfield Agri Builders for seven years. He attended Victory Christian Center in Columbus Junction and enjoyed hunting and the time he spent farming. Keith was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Byerly of Ainsworth; daughters, Jennifer (Tyrone) White of Cedar Rapids and Stephanie (Lawrence) Ashcraft of Springfield, Mo.; son, Mitchell Byerly of Ainsworth; five grandchildren; mother, Ramona Byerly of Ainsworth; sisters, Karen (Robert) Crossett of Washington and Marsha (Brad) Thompson of Yarmouth; brother, Alan (Sue) Byerly of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Prevo of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Jim Elliott and fiancee Heidi of Knoxville; and sister-in-law, Vandra Elliott of Bismarck, N.D.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Dale Byerly in 2010; granddaughter, Tatum Ashcraft; grandparents; father-in-law, Charles Elliott; brother-in-law, Rev. Darrell Elliott; and stepfather-in-law, Cyrus Prevo.

Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Victory Christian Center in Columbus Junction; with Pastor Michael McAfee officiating. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth.

Visitation will begin at noon today at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Memorials have been established for his son Mitchell’s education fund.
