OTTUMWA —
Barbara L. Rolison, 76, of Ankeny, formerly of Ottumwa, passed away March 12, 2013.
On March 27, 1936, Barbara was born, and she was raised in Ottumwa, where she met and married the love of her life, O.W. “Bud” Rolison.
She then went on to earn her master’s degree in reading. She taught school in the Ankeny school system for 27 years. She was an integral part of creating the Garfield Reading Program, was a Golden Apple recipient and influenced the lives of many young people.
Barbara is survived by her four daughters, Deborah (Michael) Coltrain, Brenda (Jack) Price, Vannessa (Kevin) Foelske and Lisa Rolison; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (David) Cantrell; and a brother, Kenneth (Sandy) Randall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, “Bud.”
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Services of Iowa Funeral Home, 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
