BLOOMFIELD —
Michael Ian Griffin, 25, of Ankeny, formerly of Bloomfield, died Oct. 17, 2012, in Ankeny.
He was born April 11, 1987, in Ottumwa to Christopher David and Julie Ann Ecklund Griffin.
He graduated from Iowa State University in 2011 and was a manager at Kum and Go in Des Moines. Michael was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and played in the praise team band while living in Bloomfield. He loved music, playing his guitar and working out. He was also an artist, enjoying painting and drawing.
He is survived by his parents, Chris and Julie Griffin of Bloomfield; a son, Chance Christopher Griffin of Florida; two sisters, Elise and Emma Griffin, both of Bloomfield; grandparents, Beverly and George Cherimpes of St. Charles, Illinois; and a grandfather, John Griffin of Avon, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gloria Griffin.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church; with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Scattering of the cremains will take place at a later date.
No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and to his son’s college fund.
Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
