WHAT CHEER —
Wayne Dufur, 69, of Ottumwa, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at his home.
He was born on March 25, 1943 in Carmel, Calif. to Wofford W. and Elizabeth Barnes Dufur. He married Nancy Valterza on Aug. 15, 1988. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Ottumwa in 2003 from Manteca, Calif. He was a heavy equipment operator for Pacific Gas & Electric, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed woodworking and polishing rocks.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; four daughters, Melissa (Jim) Farness and Lisa Brown, both of Ottumwa, Candis Layman, of Danville, Calif., and Raeline Canon, of Lincoln, Calif.; a son, Gary Dufur, of Oakdale, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandy Hawkins, of Camdenton, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
