Rosella Scieszinski, 103, of Albia, passed away Oct. 4, 2012, at Monroe Care Center in Albia.
She was born Nov. 13, 1908, to John and Grace Rand Brandon in Monroe County.
A graduate of Chariton High School, Rosella was a dietician at the Albia Hospital and VA Hospital in Knoxville. She was the last remaining child of a Union Civil War Veteran in Iowa and the oldest living resident of Monroe County.
Rosella was an excellent cook and really enjoyed cooking for her family. She also loved to play cards, along with quilting and traveling.
She is survived by three children, Eleanor Barnhill of Albia, Bill (Mary) Livengood of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Garold (Marva) Livengood of Marion; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Vern Livengood and Leo Scieszinski; a daughter, Thelma Livengood; and a son, Dale Livengood.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; with Leonard Boswell, member of Congress, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rosella’s family present throughout the afternoon and evening. Visitation will also be open at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the start of the service.
