OTTUMWA —
Wayne Stephen Foster, 69, of Ottumwa, died February 26, 2013 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born October 10, 1943 in Ottumwa to Wayne Swinney and Maurine Dillener Foster. He married Donna Hillyer in 1965. They later divorced.
Steve attended the University of Northern Iowa, and earned a degree in Mortuary Science in Milwaukee, WI. He had worked as a funeral director in Mt. Pleasant, had worked for Brown’s Shoe Fit in Fairfield and had owned a shoe store in Webster City. He later owned and operated Foster’s Shooting Supplies in Ottumwa. He retired in 2009.
He was a member of Rotary Club International in Webster City and Izaak Walton League in Webster City and Ottumwa. While living in Webster City he was a member of the Volunteer Police Reserve.
Steve was an avid recreational hunter and was proud of "Seymour" his mounted 14 point buck. He loved NASCAR, his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, mushroom hunting, and was a MOPAR enthusiast.
Surviving is his daughter, Julayne (Dennis) Sankot of Waukee; a son, Steve Foster of Webster City; four grandchildren: Braden, Amara, and Rylan Sankot and Marissa Foster and a brother, Dr. Larry (Sue) Foster of Fruitland Park, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dunnville Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Steve.
