BLOOMFIELD —
Vernon I. Neill Jr., 56, of Bloomfield, died Feb. 16, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born Feb. 23, 1956, in Bloomfield to Vernon I. and Audrey Mae Brown Neill Sr. He married Cynthia Sue Hoskin June 18, 1977, in Savannah. She preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2011.
Vernon owned and operated the Glenwood Elevator in Glenwood, Mo. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and the Lancaster Country Club, where he served on the board. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends and riding his bike on RAGBRAI.
He is survived by two daughters, Haley (Ryan) Bishop of McKinney, Texas, and Kirby (Anthony) Squire of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Case and Kylynn Bishop; a brother, Charles (Barbara) Neill of Eldon; a sister, Stella (Roger) Russell of Newton; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Hoskin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and father-in-law, Arthur Hoskin.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Rhonda Eakins officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
