Dale “Bud” Pringle, 85, of What Cheer, died Feb. 15, 2013.
Dale Eugene Pringle was born July 19, 1927, in Indianapolis, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Inez Sproul Pringle. His father passed away when Bud was in the eighth grade. His older brothers were both in the military so Bud assumed the responsibility of the family farm at age 14. Over the years, Bud continued his farming operation, and he owned and operated a livestock trucking company before managing Wakes Feed Store in What Cheer. In 1984, he retired from farming and began driving a school bus for Tri-County Community School until 1999. Bud enjoyed attending harness races and the flea markets in What Cheer as well as dancing with his partner, Leda McAdams. He also enjoyed coffee time with his friends at Ahlbee’s and a nice sunny day to mow lawns.
Dale is survived by two sons, Larry (Karla) Pringle of Alexandria, Va., and Kenny Pringle of Iowa City; his three daughters, Cathy Pringle of Ottumwa, Cindy (David) Curtis of Ottumwa and Kelly (Mark) Fitzsimmons of Red Wing, Minn. Bud also leaves behind a dear friend, Leda McAdams of Delta; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Connie Pringle; his son, Daniel Pringle; two brothers, Joseph and James Pringle; and a sister, Frances Pringle.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at What Cheer.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with family present from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Serenity House Hospice in Oskaloosa or to What Cheer Fire & Rescue.
