ALBIA —
LaRue Deloris Anderson, age 91, of Albia, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Monroe Care Center in Albia.
LaRue was born Nov. 15, 1921, to William “Thomas” and Ruth Ann (DeMoss) Edgington in Lockman. She married Dave Roberts on June 28, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1978. She married Charles Anderson on May 22, 1984. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2002.
LaRue grew up and attended school in Lockman. She was a homemaker until all her children were raised, and then began work for Loeb’s in Albia. She also worked for Illingsworth Jewelry in Albia for many years.
LaRue was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, First Christian Church and Crazy Quilters. She donated a lot of the quilts she made to the N.E.S.T. program. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling, cooking new recipes and spending time with her family.
LaRue is survived by four children, Janice Ansley of Albia, Bill (Sue) Roberts of Burlington, Dan Anderson of Des Moines and Rick (Ruth) Anderson of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Carol) Ansley of Indianola, Melinda “Mindy” (Brian) Harris of Albia, Dawn (Kevin) Maughan of Albia, Dana (Steve) Osborn of Newton, Susan (John) Sovers of Muscatine, Sarah (Mark) Loots of Burlington, Bill (Brooke) Roberts of Burlington, Ed (Cathy) Roberts of Burlington, Chris (Maria) Anderson of Austin, Minn., and Erika (Tad) Halley of Green Bay, Wis.; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma LaMar; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Dave Roberts and Charles Anderson; a great-grandson, Joseph Maughan; three siblings, Marie Moore, Gale Edgington and Arthur Edgington; a son-in-law, Arthur Ansley; and a daughter-in-law, Deanna Anderson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at First Christian Church in Albia with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Service Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., today at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with LaRue’s family present throughout the day and evening.
Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church and Albia Baptist Temple.
