OTTUMWA —
Frances E. Carder, 81, of 910 W. Second St., died February. 9, 2013 at her home.
She was born March 29, 1931 in Ottumwa to John and Goldie Thurm Guthrie. She married Paul G. Carder April 15, 1949. He preceded her in death January 3, 1997.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, she worked at Ottumwa Hospital and in daycare at Seton School.
She attended church services given by Christ Church at Westgate Towers, was a member of the Red Hats at Westgate Towers and volunteered as a foster grandparent at the YMCA.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Jack) Enloe of Ottumwa and Pam Carder of Mesa, AZ; three sons, Paul Carder, Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Jerry Carder (Judy Dunning) and Tommy Carder, both of Ottumwa; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Cleora Randolph and Betty Rutledge, both of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tim Carder; a sister Barbara Davis; two brothers, Warren and Ron Guthrie.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be to Westgate Towers Social Club.
