FLORIS —
Helen Genevieve “Jenny” Comer, 90, of Floris, died Jan. 25, 2013, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.
She was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Davis County to John Everett and Grace Viola Downing Whisler. She married Sidney Comer Dec. 16, 1939, in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1986.
She was a homemaker, owned and operated Comer’s Antiques in Floris with her husband and also drove a school bus for several years. She was affiliated with the Floris Baptist Church and on Dec. 26, 1983, she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Jenny enjoyed camping, fishing and antiquing.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald (Sue) Comer, Gregory (Brenda) Comer and Melvin Comer, all of Floris; daughter-in-law, Bea Comer of Floris; six grandchildren, Aaron Comer, Angela Colgan, Patricia Rupe, David Comer, Casey Comer and Jacob Comer; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Max E. Comer and Wayne Comer; eight brothers, Flavel, Milo, Dale, Keith, Cleve, Wayne, Wade and Dwight Whisler; and five sisters, Mabel Barnett, Blanche Lippert, Lilah Johnson, Vada Baird and Margaret Scott.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at the Pierce Cemetery in Davis County.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials have been established to the Floris Fire Department and the Floris Community Hall.
