OTTUMWA —
Adam Michael Daniel Gates, 21, of 2811 Oak Meadow Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1991 in Detroit Lakes, Minn. to Barbara Ann Lemberger Gates.
A 2010 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he participated in cross country and track. He earned a welding certificate from Indian Hills Community College.
Adam had worked at Bath and Body Works, Beach Ottumwa and Burlington Northern Railroad. He had recently been hired by WIMBCO Tank Co.
He was a member of the Ottumwa Boxing Club, where he was Ringside World Champion. Adam attended The Bridge.
Surviving are his mother and her husband, Barbara and Chuck Allman, of Ottumwa; a brother, Alex Gates, of Ottumwa; a sister, Ashley Johnson, of Bloomfield; grandparents, Michael and LeAnn Lemberger, of Ottumwa; grandmother, Joann Lemberger, of Centerville, and grandparents, Franklin LaVerne and Wanita Sue Adamson, of Ottumwa; uncles, Tim Lemberger, of New York, Joey Adamson, Patrick and Justin Allman; special friends, Robbie Adamson, Shane Frazier and Bill Robinson.
He was preceded in death by a step-great-grandmother, Tressie Ruby.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home; with Pastor Marty Schmidt and Father Bernie Weir officiating.
Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Ottumwa Boxing Club.
