OTTUMWA —
Darlene Glasgow, 77, of Ottumwa, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 29, 1935 in Powersville, Mo. to George and Elva Callison Bishop. She married Wilber L. Glasgow on March 20, 1954 in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2009.
Darlene was a homemaker, raising six children. She loved to sew, making quilted blankets for Indian Hills Daycare and Hospices in Ottumwa and Oskaloosa. She also made quilts for all of her children. Darlene enjoyed buying toys at Christmas for children at the Women’s Crisis Center and at the Salvation Army. She loved canning. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry (Judy Weller) Glasgow and Rick (Nancy) Glasgow, both of Ottumwa, and Wilber (Sandy) Glasgow Jr., of Oskaloosa; three daughters, Connie (Scott) Hazelwood, Sharon (Jim) Garrett and Brenda (Terry) Feehan, all of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Patricia) Bishop, of Ottumwa; a special nephew who she thought of as a son, Mike (Brenda) Webster, of Canton, Mo.; and her little Yorkie companion, Mickey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant twin sister, Arlene; an infant brother, Charles; and a brother, Dwight Bishop.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home; with Rev. David Klanderman officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ryan Feehan, Matt Hazelwood, Mike Edler, Jerrod Glasgow, Nick Glancy and Jason Glasgow. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg O’Brien, Rocky Lord, Dennis Lord, John Bullock, Dylan Webster and Cody Glasgow.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
