OTTUMWA —
Fredia Darlene (Smith) Stubbs, age 85, died August 4, 2012 at Sylvan Woods.
She was born May 16, 1927 in Appanoose County to Clyde and Cora Strunk Smith. She married Dale Stubbs February 12, 1943 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death December 17, 1990.
Fredia and Dale farmed in the Farson area & operated Stubbs Appliance in Hedrick. After Dale’s death, Fredia moved to Ottumwa and worked at O’Hara Hardware. She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Cheryl (Ernie) Schiller and Michelle (David) Vandenberg both of Donnellson and 5 grandchildren.
Fredia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters & 2 brothers.
Her body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday August 7 at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the family visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Private inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.
