OTTUMWA —
Rev. Grover Floyd Branson, 81, of Ottumwa, died at 6:25 p.m. Aug. 23, 2012 at the Winterset Care Center in Winterset.
He was born March 10, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., to Floyd and Elizabeth Korodi Branson. He married Marie Isadell Birkhead on June 28, 1952.
Rev. Branson was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School, Wilson Junior College and Vennard College. He served as a pastor for over 50 years and served First Church of the Nazarene in Ottumwa for 9-1/2 years, retiring in 1994.
He had served on the Alumni Board and Board of Directors of Vennard College.
Surviving is his wife, Marie; three sons, Pastor Bill (Terri) Branson of Winterset, Bob (Charlotte) Branson of Shenandoah, and Barry (Pat) Branson of Papillion, Neb.; six grandchildren, Scott Branson, Carrie Burgett, Dusty Branson, Justin Branson, Shannon Henneman and Greg Branson; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Marilyn) Branson of Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and David Branson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Tim Dawson, Pastor Bill Branson and Pastor Ken Martin officiating. Burial will be in University Park Cemetery near Oskaloosa.
Visitation with the family present will be 10-11 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the family.
