OTTUMWA —
Helen Patricia “Pat” Coria, 85, of passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties.
Pat was born to Billy B. and Mabel Snodgrass Wilkinson in Maxwell on June 30, 1927.
Pat spent her youthful days in Gibson, Thornburg and What Cheer, graduating from What Cheer High School in 1943. After high school, Pat moved to Des Moines, where she attended Drake University and was employed by Younkers. Pat’s next move was to Ottumwa, where she met and wed Charles Cameron Mullenix at the Little Brown Church on Oct. 25, 1947. Pat and her husband parented one son, Charles “Mike Mullenix” Carmichael, while being engaged in farming and dairying. Pat worked at Sears, Sunnyslope and various departments of ORHC such as admitting and the business office until her retirement in June 1987.
Pat married Manuel F. Coria on Feb. 21, 1987; they went to Hawaii on their honeymoon. They resided near the Ottumwa Airport and spent a great deal of their time traveling by RV over the United States, Alaska, most of Canada and Mexico. During these trips, they visited all of the presidents’ libraries and a number of national parks and monuments in addition to the Washington, D.C., area. They enjoyed antiquing and collecting, attending auctions and the What Cheer Collectors Paradise. Pat and Manny are members of Questers.
Pat is survived by her husband; son; three nieces; six cousins; two stepsons; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Edgar Smith; sister, Ellen and one brother, Billy B. Jr.
Pat directed to be cremated with a private internment at Sixteen Cemetery north of what Cheer.
Memorials may be made to What Cheer Opera House, Brick School Museum, Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties or Questers.
