BLAKESBURG —
Rex Vernon Small, 58, of 107 E. State St., died at 6 p.m. May 31, 2012 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born June 22, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska to Donald and Evelyn Sheraden Small.
A graduate of Blakesburg High School, Ottumwa Heights College and the University of Iowa with a business degree, Rex had lived all of his life in the Blakesburg area.
His hobbies were reading comics and watching TV. He loved music, visiting with family and friends. He always wanted to fly airplanes.
Surviving are his mother, Evelyn Small of Blakesburg; two brothers, Randy (Lynn) Small and Rick (Valerie) Small, both of Blakesburg; a sister, Diane (David) Wright of Eldon; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Small; grandparents, Vernon and Alice Sheraden, Roby and Grace Small.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Blakesburg old gymnasium with the Rev. Jeffrey “Spud” Lunsford officiating. Burial will be in the Blakesburg Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
