OTTUMWA —
Gerald Edmund Bonnette, 92, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Ottumwa, died February 20, 2012 at Christian Health Care East in Springfield, MO.
He was born August 16, 1919 in Eldon to Lee D. and Minnie Amiss Bonnette. He married Maxine E. Patrick on June 21, 1941. She preceded him in death April 6, 2008.
A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Allied Van Lines Ottumwa Warehouse and retired from Lowenberg Bakery.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #347. He was past president of the Wapello County Travelin’ Sams.
Surviving is a daughter, Patricia (John) Hissink of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren, Brian (Charity) Hissink of Branson, MO and April (Daniel) Breon of Sparta, MO; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Cassie and Emily Breon.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Don Bramschreiber officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
The family will be present at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for visitation.
