FAIRFIELD —
Jerry Lee Davis, 77, of Fairfield, passed away Nov. 1, 2012, at Parkview Care Center.
Jerry was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Bentonsport to Orrie and Florence Funk Davis. He married LuAnn Gorman on June 26, 1954, in Batavia.
He worked at Iowa Malleable Iron Co. for 40 years and for 37 years at the Fairfield Fire Department with four years of that as the chief. He was a member of the Howard Johnson Coffee Club, Scout Leader for Troop 64, a Little League Coach, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and was on the Senior Center Board. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, bowling and woodworking.
Jerry is survived by his wife, LuAnn of Fairfield; three children, Dan (Barb) Davis of Fairfield, Julie (Greg) Crawford of West Des Moines and Joni Davis of Englewood, Colo.; three grandchildren, Josh (Selansia) Crawford, Aaron Crawford and Joel Crawford; one sister, Jackie Eakins, and one twin brother, Larry (Shirley) Davis, both of Batavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Charlotte Pratt; and one brother, James “Pug” Davis.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church; with Pastor Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home.
